Join us for worship on Sundays at 10:30am from September through June. In July and August, we worship at 9:30am in our air conditioned Chapel.
“Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.” - from The Book of Order, Directory for Worship, W-1.1001
Our Worship Services
Huguenot Memorial Church conducts worship services in the tradition of the Presbyterian Church/USA, whose Directory for Worship declares, “The life of the Church is one, and its worship, witness and service are inseparable. Using the Scriptures, preaching, music, prayers and other forms of glorifying God, Presbyterian worship should honor our Reformed heritage while developing appropriate new forms, encouraging continuing reform.” We seek to plan and conduct innovative worship services under advisement of Session’s Worship & Music Committee. We welcome contemporary elements, such as our First Sunday Instrumental Group, while affirming the classic musical traditions of Reformed Christian worship. Guest preachers share the pulpit with our pastor on a regular basis, especially during vacation times. We attempt to employ inclusive language in our liturgical life, and we honor the regular participation of lay worship assistants in Sunday worship.
Our summer worship takes place at 9:30 a.m., normally in our Chapel (climate-controlled), commencing in late-June and concluding on Labor Day weekend. There are special services on the Sunday after Christmas (with a “Blessing of the Animals” included), on Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday (in the Chapel), and we join with other Pelham churches for a Community Good Friday Service in Holy Week.
