Music Programs
at the
Huguenot Memorial Church
Music has always been an important facet of life at Huguenot Memorial Church. The worship service is where this is most in evidence, and where its contribution to the role of the ministry is experienced as well as recognized.

Our Chancel Choir
This is a wonderful opportunity to lead worship, enjoy delightful fellowship and sing some of the most beautiful music that was ever written from centuries ago through today. The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings before and after the worship service from the first Sunday after Labor Day weekend to early June. The choir sings at each Sunday's worship service and additional services for Christmas, Easter and interfaith worship. During Advent and Lent, the Chancel Choir presents special music - usually a master choral work - and some additional rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings. We make rehearsal tapes available in order to accommodate busy schedules.

Our Handbell Choir
The adult Handbell Choir has weekly rehearsals from 7:00-8:00 p.m. starting each fall and continuing until early June. Newcomers who have some music reading skills are welcome to join at any time. Open houses will be announced at the beginning of each fall season to plan workshops for a beginner's group.

Our First Sunday Choir
This choir offers an opportunity for those who love to sing to lead our worship in song on the first Sunday of each month - October through June. The choir is intergenerational (middle-schoolers through adults), the atmosphere is informal and the rehearsal time is limited to one hour before the Sunday morning service - a perfect opportunity to "sing a joyful song."

Our Children's and Youth Music Program
The Children's and Youth Music Program begins each year in October and ends in the beginning of May. We have some fabulous activities throughout the year, including special parties, music for the annual Christmas Pageant, outreach to the community and much more! The participants learn about important music fundamentals, healthy singing and concepts following the Dalcroze eurythmics method of childhood music education. They also have the opportunity to learn how to lead the congregation in worship. The fellowship and fun are simply too good to miss! Children and youth of our congregation are encouraged to bring their friends to our various music programs - all are welcome!
Four separate weekly rehearsals are held for the following grades:
The Cherub Choir - 4 year olds* and Kindergarteners rehearse on Thursdays from 3:45-4:05 p.m., followed by a snack and craft project. We end at 4:30 p.m. (*Open to children who turn 4 years old by December 31st of the program year. Children turning four in January-May of the program year may join on their birthday).
The Angel Choir - 1st through 3rd graders meet for snack and a craft project on Thursdays at 3:45 p.m. We rehearse from 4:05-4:30 p.m.
The Gabriel Ringers - 4th and 5th graders meet for dinner (at 6:15 p.m.) each Tuesday night ($5.00 donation for dinner), followed by rehearsal until 7:15 p.m. We play handchimes and sing.
Middle School Ensemble - Meets on Tuesdays from the beginning of October from 7:30-8:00 p.m. Our youth play instruments such as flute, violin, guitar, bass and percussion. They accompany themselves as they sing a wide variety of music styles.
Please note: For Tuesday rehearsals, we follow the Huguenot Memorial Church Middle School Youth Group calendar and do not meet on evenings when Youth Group is cancelled. For both Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals, we also follow the Pelham School calendar and do not have rehearsals if school is cancelled that day for inclement weather, teacher conferences or vacations.
In addition, our High School Choir rehearses and sings for special services during the year
